X-table MonoballFix

The ARCA-SWISS X-Table is a multipurpose accessory for studio and location photography. Use as a macro focusing rail, a camera positioning tool for architecture in tight spaces or over railings, or as a tool for critical positioning over copy work or overhead flat lay product shots.

Macro Focusing

Two gear driven function carriers move your camera in micro-metric movements along two 20cm (8”) rails, one for the X and a second for the Y axes.
The gear driven control knob is self-locking. Simply turn the geared knob to position and release.
A friction control ring, inside the geared focus knob, sets the tension for geared movements to the user's preference, or for extra safety when X-Table is tipped downwards.

Instructions for mounting X-Table to a tripod head

X-Table mounts directly into the lower channel of ARCA-SWISS tripod heads with Classic or flipLock® dual channel quick releases, or directly into any ARCA-SWISS tripod head with a monoball®Fix quick release.

Third party manufacturer tripod head mounting

X-Table does not have a threaded socket on the rail. Therefore, an additional accessory is required if mounting to a third-party tripod head. The 8.5cm Extension Bracket II (#42108) will mount into most knockoff “Arca-Swiss style” quick releases. The footprint of the extension bracket is the same dimension and specification as ARCA-SWISS original camera plates. X-Table mounts quickly into this connecting bracket and a lever style quick-lock secures the X-Table monorail in place. The 8.5cm extension bracket has a 3/8-16 threaded mounting socket if needed.

monoball®Fix quick-release:

The new monoball®Fix quick-release is lighter, thinner and quicker to use. It uses narrower plates and rails.
It has very high clamping force and can hold up to 30 kg (66 lb.) — ample for most common applications.
It has a discreet lever, designed to avoid catching on external equipment, with 3 positions, open, normal and closed:

Open requires the locking lever to be pushed positively outwards against a return spring, an arrangement designed to remove the risk of accidental opening.
Normal needs no action on the lever and allows a plate or rail to be slid into position and adjusted. Two pins on its base prevent any unintended slippage of the camera.
Closed requires the lever to be pushed inwards. A click, which can be both felt and heard, is your assurance that the camera is correctly and securely fixed in position.

Lighter, stronger and instinctively easy to use, the monoball®Fix quick-release can be manipulated by touch alone.
