The ARCA-SWISS Cube is without question the most highly
developed and most precise tripod head on the market.
Why is that so much more important today than it was in the past?
Whereas photographers in the past had film that was at least 12 cm wide,
today they have a sensor that measures a maximum of 49 mm:
that means their work must be 2.5 times more exact. In order
to be able to work efficiently with horizontal and vertical lines,
which are crucial in architectural and still-life photography,
it is essential to be able to move your camera with an accuracy of
millimetres.
Every photographer to whom I have lent the Cube has,
without exception, bought it immediately or wants to get it as soon as possible.
Which brings us to our next topic: the individual parts of the Cube spend
a whole day (!) on milling machines which are operated by
technicians who previously worked in the manufacture of the
highest precision watches in the Jura. Then it still has to be assembled!
That means that there are always delivery deadlines to be met - but
we always have some in the pipeline too.
